Training

Min. 4 weeks of Company On-the-Job Training working as a roller operator apprentice, and fitter / tacker helper.

Specific Knowledge/Skills

Skill in welding process FCAW and pass company administered tackers test.    

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

Engage in setting up & operating a plate roller to form cylindrical cans from steel plate. This task is performed according to roll specifications including roll sketches, roll letters, drawings and other documents provided by the project manager. Tack weld cans with FCAW to hold the shape before final welding takes place, and checks can for proper diameter, circumference and the profile. 

Stamp or mark information on the can such as job #, diameter, wall thickness and length.

Brushes and grinds if necessary the weld groove and edges before roll.

While working in this craft, employee will be required to climb and/or work at various heights and lifting up to 50 pounds.  If more than 50 pounds, ask for assistance.Attaches sling to plate/pipe and crane hook to load the roller and remove rolled can out of the roller using overhead crane.
