Job Description

Position Vision: The CWI / Quality Manager will be responsible for creating and maintaining processes to ensure the consistent production of quality products.

Qualifications

  • 3 years of supervising/managing Quality Control Management.
  • Reviews project requirements, determine minimal requirements and procedures, schedules and coordinates required examinations, inspections, or tests for the discipline or project segment assigned to.
  • Must demonstrate sufficient knowledge of the functions required to direct and oversee the operations of a company.
  • Knowledge of standards, processes and applications Such as CWI- Certified Welding Inspector, Structural Pipe Experience, Fabrication Experience.
  • Must have good aptitude and manual dexterity.
  • Good reading comprehension.
  • Ability to work with others – team player.
  • Good communication skills with co-workers and supervisors.
  • Current CWI certification.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with use of PC and associated systems.
  • Good communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Position Vision: The CWI / Quality Manager will be responsible for creating and maintaining processes to ensure the consistent production of quality products.
  • Ensuring quality of personnel, material, and processes throughout the manufacturing process.
  • Responsible for training and testing of new employees.
  • Ensuring that production staff is following OSHA and IAS guidelines for the manufacturing plant.
  • Periodically assist in onsite job resolution to help identify and resolve construction issues.
  • Assist in sustaining a preventative maintenance program that helps to promote proper equipment operation, reduce repair costs and less down time.
  • Coordinates and participates in filling out the performance reviews on all employees listed as a direct report.
  • Codes, standards and specifications: Interpretation of the intent and ensuring the requirements of codes, standards and specifications are met.
  • Welding procedures: Ensuring that a procedure is available, has been approved and is being employed in production.
  • Witnessing of welder and procedure approval tests: Witnessing the preparation of test plates and destructive tests and verifying compliance with appropriate standards and specifications.
  • Pre-weld inspection: Verification that dimensions, fit-up and weld preparations are in accordance with specifications.
  • In-process welding inspection and surveillance: Surveillance during welding to verify compliance with specified procedures including any preheat, interpass temperature control and post heat requirements.
  • Inspection and Test Plans: Assistance and agreement with the preparation of Inspection and Test Plans (ITP’s).
  • Post-weld heat treatment: Verification, when required that post weld heat treatment has been conducted in accordance with specification requirements.
  • Post-weld visual inspection: Visual inspection and dimensional check of completed weldment against specification requirements and drawings.
  • NDT reports: The study and cognizance of NDT results on any welding work for which the welding inspector is responsible. Where the duties of the welding inspector include using NDT methods such as liquid penetrant, magnetic particle, radiography or ultrasonic inspection then it is suggested that he/she obtains certification in accordance with the related approval schemes.
  • Reports: Evaluation of and preparation of inspection reports for the employer or the client.
  • Ensure visual inspection training of structural weldments and cold-formed products requiring welding.
  • Ensure proper identification and inspection of incoming raw materials in compliance with the quality plans and specifications.
  • Ensure and document traceability of final assembly to incoming materials, QA records, and individual welders.
  • Ensure applicable fabrication tolerances are met for weldments and cold-formed products.
  • Proper care is given to equipment and tools.
  • Effectively communicates; verbally or in writing, listens perceptively and is receptive to feedback.
  • Decision making appropriate for designated level of responsibility; anticipates, analyze and resolves problems; ability to work independently in performing and completing assignments.
  • Organizes and Plans work to maximize efficiency and productivity, prepared by maintaining an orderly and clean work area.

  • Work alongside Production Manager and the Industrial Distribution & Safety Manager.

Essential Functions

  • Ensuring quality of personnel, material, and processes throughout the manufacturing process.
  • Responsible for training and testing of new employees.
  • Creating new WPSs and PQRs for all steel fabrication.
  • Responsible for all fabrication equipment and tool calibrations.
  • Ensure qualification of welders and assure continuity of welder qualifications as required by AWS, AISC and IAS.
  • Communicate training programs to assist in the understanding of the needed steps to promote safety and efficiency in the manufacturing process.
  • Maintain IAS and AISC annual certifications through review and updates of departmental procedures.
  • Ensuring that production staff is following OSHA and IAS guidelines for the manufacturing plant.
