The Twin Brothers Marine team were called upon to roll and weld two 17’ – 0” OD x 1.500” WT x 202.75’ OAL cargo tanks in accordance with ASME VIII, Div. 1. Vessels were also coated and hydro tested per customer drawings, calculations and the contract agreement.
What made this project unique, which was based on submitted calculations and USCG approvals, was that it was different from simply rolling pipe, as the pipe was outfitted with nozzles and internals. In addition, it underwent postweld heat treatment on-site, hydrotesting and was loaded onto a customer furnished vessel using four cranes.
This project took approximately eight months, from award to loadout, and was completed under budget, without any quality issues.
Twin Brothers’ capability to implement its assembly line during its rolling and fabrication processes, along with the ability to postweld heat treat the vessels on-site in our own oven, offers those needing these products a one-stop source that can provide safe, on-time and quality-driven products and services.
Positive remarks were made from third parties on hand that witnessed the loadout and hydrotesting of the tanks. In addition to that, Twin Brothers’ reputation was enhanced by having delivered the vessels, again, on-time and under budget.
We look forward to more repeat projects with this customer!
