Education
HS Diploma Required. B.S. Occupational Health and Safety preferred but not limited to. EMT training is preferred.
Experience
Required: 2 yrs. experience in occupational Health and Safety with Environmental experience. Medical Training.
Training
Required: Working knowledge of hazard identification and OSHA regulations and Emergency Medical Technician training preferred. Company specific training provided.
Specific Knowledge/Skills
Basic knowledge of federal, state, and local laws related to HSE in a metal production mill type setting. Medical responder training required, advanced medical training a plus. Ability to conduct training in a group setting. Familiar with Microsoft systems.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Work as instructed by the Director of Safety/HR.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Evaluates potential injuries from accidents. Coordinate activities with other emergency agencies (Fire, EMS, Police etc.) in case of emergency medical situations.
- Assist in implementing Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) programs to eliminate or reduce occupational injuries, Illnesses, and financial losses.
- Assist in investigations of near misses and incidents.
- Hosts daily safety meetings with crews and conducts daily worksite visits.
- Works towards assurance the facility maintains compliance according to approved facility permits and plans.
- Compiles HSE performance reports for leadership and projects.
- Ensure all HSE training and medical testing is completed for employees and contractors.
